Community Workshop Volunteer

Dance Syndrome

We are looking for 2 - 4 volunteers to work on a rotation basis at our weekly Everybody Dance session at Plungington Community Centre every Wednesday from 9:45am – 11:05am. Sessions are co-delivered by a Trained Dance Leader with a learning disability, supported by a non-disabled Dance Artist and are open to adults of any ability or disability.

The Community Workshop Volunteer will support the Dance Artist & Dance Leader who co-lead the session by providing the following support:

- Checking the attendance register, managing money/payments & receipts.

- Helping to set up the room.

- Welcoming and inducting/on-boarding new participants, ensuring they have necessary paperwork.

- Answering questions from participants and parents / carers.

- Offering encouragement & support to all participants so they can join in as much as they want to.

What skills do I need?

Essential:

- Enhanced DBS check. (DanceSyndrome can arrange this if you don’t have one).

- Empathetic, patient & kind

- Intuitive & personable

- Excellent communication skills

Desirable:

- Working with people with learning disabilities.

- Previous experience of working/volunteering in a small charity/social enterprise.

We will work out a rota for the volunteers when we have everyone's availability so that they will not have to attend every Weds but will provide cover between them.
