Schoolreaders
Schoolreaders volunteers are matched with a local primary school. They visit for an hour or two each week during term time and listen to children read individually to help improve the children’s reading and comprehension skills. Often Schoolreaders volunteers are working with the children who do not have the opportunity to read outside of the classroom, or those that need a little more support. Volunteers do not need any specific skills or prior experience but they do need to have good written and spoken English and must enjoy spending time with primary aged children (age 4 – 11).
If you have some time to spare, a good grasp of English, and if you enjoy spending time with children, you could become a Schoolreader. Our volunteers are drawn from all walks of life, and range in age from 18 to 92!
