School Governors

Fylde Coast Academy Trust

We are actively recruiting for school governors for our primary and secondary schools across Blackpool.

Make a difference in your community: Become a school governor!

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back and develop your own professional skills? Your local schools are looking for dedicated individuals to join Local Governing Bodies. You do not need to be an education expert or a parent to apply. We value diverse perspectives and are looking for people with enthusiasm, open minds, and a desire to make a positive impact.

Why join us? Shape the future: Help us maintain high educational standards and create a safe, thriving environment for local children.

Develop your career: Gain valuable board-level experience, including strategic planning, holding leaders to account, and teamwork.

Give back: Connect deeply with your community and support our hard-working school staff.

The role requires attending a few evening meetings each term, alongside occasional school visits and prep reading. Training and full support will be provided.

What skills do I need?

You do not need to be an education expert to be a school governor, as we look for a diverse mix of professional skills and personal qualities to function effectively.

Strategic thinking: The ability to look at the big picture rather than getting caught up in day-to-day school management.

Critical friendship: Knowing how to ask challenging, constructive questions while remaining supportive of the headteacher.

Commitment and reliability: Being available to attend meetings, read paperwork beforehand, and visit the school.

Discretion and confidentiality: Respecting the sensitive nature of school, staff, and student data.
