NYAS
Are you willing to give up some of your time to make a difference to a young person’s life?
Do you relate well to young people but like a challenge?
NYAS is a national children’s rights charity working in partnership with Lancashire Children’s Services to recruit, train and support adult volunteers to be Independent Visitors for children and young people who are looked-after by their local authority.
We need motivated, child focused volunteers to befriend young people who would benefit from a trusted adult friend outside of the system.
You don’t need any special qualifications but patience, flexibility, determination to make a difference and a non-judgmental attitude are essential.
You will need to commit a few hours each month for at least two years. Each visit can range from a coffee, shopping, cinema, trips to parks, sports activities, theme parks etc.
The purpose of having an independent visitor is about having “FUN”.
In return for your commitment we will give you training and ongoing support as well as a budget to cover your expenses. Enhanced DBS checks will be carried out.
